This 4-CD album, the first complete recording of César Franck’s chamber works includes, besides the great Piano Quintet and Sonata for piano and violin, two rarities : his first trio, written at the ripe age of eleven that I discovered in the French National Library, and the brilliant Solo for piano accompanied by strings published only recently. This is the world premiere recording of both works.
